Mentors know better than anyone: this support changes lives

First Foundation’s impact is made possible by mentors like you, who show up, share their experience and walk alongside scholars as they grow.

You’ve sat across from a scholar who didn’t grow up with a professional in the family. You’ve answered questions no one at home could answer. You’ve watched them figure out things that came easily to others. And you’ve seen what shifts in the moment someone finally believes in them.

COLLECTIVE GIVING

A mentor giving circle is how a group of you fund another scholar to come through.

By pooling contributions, mentors can take part at a level that works for them — while together making scholarships possible for more of our young people.

Four to ten mentors, fully funding one four-year scholarship together — same financial support, same one-on-one mentoring, same exposure to the world of work. The three pieces you already know matter most.

HOW IT WORKS

Your group names the circle. You’re matched with a scholar. Updates go to the whole group, so every mentor in your circle follows the same journey. From Year 13 to graduation, the four years become something the whole circle experiences.

You don’t need to find a full group alone. If you know two or three other mentors who’d be in, that’s enough to start the conversation. We’ll help you build from there. First Foundation can also provide tools to make managing the circle easy and engaging.

“Philanthropy isn’t reserved for the wealthy. It’s about shared vision and collective action.

For each of us, it’s the price of a few cups of coffee, and once the payment is set up, it just keeps going and you forget about it.”

FABULOUS LADIES GIVING CIRCLE

Why collective giving works?

A full First Foundation scholarship costs $28,000 over four years ($7,000 per year). For one person, that can be a big commitment.
For a group, it becomes accessible — and the journey becomes shared.
