How I see myself moving into the future

Spark has helped provide over seventy First Foundation Scholarships. Rhonda Koroheke and Charlotte Thomas say the momentum just keeps growing. Like every Scholar, Duaa Belgecem shows the power of the First Foundation programme. Duaa brings a unique perspective, impressive dedication, and dreams for the future that she’s ready to share.  Duaa’s experience at Spark has changed the way she sees the world of work.

Duaa recently graduated from The University of Auckland with a Bachelor of Arts. She then gained experience working with the Human Resources team at Spark. She believes the opportunity to build work-readiness skills is one of the most important pillars of the programme.

“First Foundation really believes in our potential, and this has a great impact on how I see myself moving into the future. The strong relationship between First Foundation, Spark, and us as students has been the most instrumental part of this program’s success.”

Duaa was empowered by the experience of bringing her whole self to work.

“There is great importance placed on valuing diversity here. I don’t feel scared to speak up because it’s a safe environment to share my ideas and receive feedback.”

Rhonda says the partnership with First Foundation brings Spark’s values to life. As an organisation and as individuals, the Spark team is passionate about providing a helping hand to talented rangatahi. It’s especially important when they may otherwise face barriers to reaching their potential.
