Scholar gains on-the-ground experience
Hikurangi Ratu’s driving force is to be a role model to others. With support from his scholarship partner Tru-Test Ltd, Hikurangi studied civil engineering (with honours) and currently has an internship with Fletcher Construction.
He has a special interest in roading and building structures, and as Tangata Whenua he wants to use his degree to help local iwi.
Hikurangi says having financial support and mentoring through First Foundation boosted his confidence, while the work experience has given him crucial on-the-ground experience.
