Online platform helps scholars learn new skills

Our scholars are gaining new skills through an online learning platform that’s becoming a key part of the First Foundation programme.

First Foundation partnered with learning development consultants Capability Group to implement the platform, which is currently available to scholars and will be rolled out to mentors later in the year.

Drew McGuire, director at Capability Group, says the platform complements each student’s journey with First Foundation, helping them learn useful skills as they progress through the programme

“We’ve identified the key knowledge and behaviours that will support students over time – everything from goal setting to personal resilience and unconscious bias. This is delivered in bite-sized chunks via animations, video and Q&As.”

The technology is designed to be fun and easy to use, and allows students to connect with each other while they learn, says Drew.

“The platform is gamified, and scholars can use the game mechanics that best motivate them. The idea is that students use the platform for 4-5 minutes each time, 3-4 times per week.

“We believe reinforcing new knowledge and behaviours online in this way will make the First Foundation journey an even more powerful learning experience for students.”
