Joshua reflects that "I may not have had the drive to finish my
degree had it not been for my First Foundation Scholarship and the
friends I made through it."
His Careers Advisor at school said of him "he is a well respected,
confident young man who accepts responsibilities willingly and with
integrity, he is hardworking, enthusiastic and positive in all he
does." Joshua also proved to be an outstanding pianist and
saxophonist. He gained his Grade Five music exam with Distinction
several years ahead of most of his peers. While still at school he
was a member of the Auckland University Music Academy, founded a
rock band in his Church Youth Group and played in his school Senior
Concert and Stage Bands.
Angela Taylor of Siemens said when she met with Joshua she was
impressed by the passion with which he spoke about his community
involvement and hobbies. She noted that his humility and passion
fit perfectly with Siemens' values for having a passion for winning
and taking ownership. "Siemens is delighted to have Joshua Gordon
as our first First Foundation scholarship student."
Joshua graduated in 2010 from Victoria University with a Bachelor
of Commerce and Administration. He is currently employed by Manna
Christian Stores in Lower Hutt with the goal of one day becoming
Manager.
