Jeanette sees the First Foundation scholarship as not just about
herself but about a brighter future for family and the people
around her. She is the eldest of five sisters, and lives with her
mother who is from the Philippines. She recognises the hard work
her mother puts in to support her and her sisters and their
extended family in the Philippines. At school, it was Jeanette's
hope that studying at a tertiary level would assist her in
providing a better life for her family.
This hard working student enjoyed success at school, including
her Young Enterprise Scheme team winning the South Island 'Durham
St Copthorne Business Presentation Award' in 2007 for their
innovation. 'Jeanette appears to have an entrepreneurial spirit
that is a valuable asset for her, her family and the wider
community' said Tony Harris from Westpac at the 2008 First
Foundation Awards Evening.
With her talent and interest in business, Jeanette is pursuing a
Bachelor of of Applied Management in HR at CPIT, Christchurch. In
2017 she will complete this and graduate with a double major in HR
and Business Transformation and Change.
