Youngest of 7 children, Francis will be the first in his family
to secure a scholarship and transition into tertiary education.
Outgoing and dependable in character, Francis shows focus,
determination and maturity in the face of hardship and challenge.
In regards to their scholarship selection, Fonterra Brands
commented, "Fonterra Brands is always looking for potential future
talent. To Fonterra Brands 'potential' means an individual who has
drive and who has influence among their peers. We saw this
potential in Francis."
Francis was an active member in his school and wider
community. He took up opportunities to lead his Church Youth Group,
be a Peer Support for junior students, volunteer hours of service
for his community and play Touch, Kilikiti and Rugby.
Francis was a particularly outstanding Rugby player
representing Mangere and Counties Manukau in numerous tournaments.
This young leader held positions as vice-captain and captain for
the Nesian Hawks, his team winning the Under 17s competition for
four consecutive years. In 2010 he was named the Auckland
Rugby League Under 16s Player of the Year.
Francis unashamedly states that he has "high ambitions." These
include gaining a Bachelor of Commerce from The University of
Auckland. He wants to become a registered Accountant and
dreams of working in one of the top four Accounting firms.
