In her application to become a First Foundation Scholar, Cecelia
described herself as, 'a young Maori that is self-disciplined,
resilient, and determined to succeed in the areas that she is not
only passionate about but in those that are important to others.'
When you meet Cecelia you realise she is a standout student with a
deep desire to take every good opportunity for herself, her family
and her community.
Cecelia's Scholarship Partner selected her carefully. PGG
Wrightson Seeds are based in Christchurch. Across the duration of
her Scholarship Cecelia spent blocks of time working with them
there. "Cecelia's passion for environmental awareness in
agriculture was something that impressed us. We take great delight
in being able to assist Cecelia, not only in her future studies,
career and goals, but with the strengths and benefits that we know
she will bring as a leader to the community and to New
Zealand. We believe her time with PGG Wrightson Seeds will
expose her to a range of prospects that will expand her future
skills and opportunities," said Gretchen McFadden of PGG Wrightson
Seeds.
Cecelia graduated in July 2017 from The University of Auckland
for a Bachelor of Science, majoring in Sport and Exercise Science
and Environmental Science.. In reference to her tertiary education,
Cecelia states, 'I have chosen these fields because I am a
passionate sportswoman and believe that my generation has a
responsibility to ensure that the environment is well cared
for.'
