Keen, bright and quirky, despite the challenges of her
childhood, Briar has a zest for life and a personality that shines
through. Her diverse blend of Maori, English and Scottish heritage
adds to her unique perspective in life. She is particularly
passionate about her Maori culture.
At school Briar thrived at Physics and Drama. She was involved
in Table Tennis, Tramping, Peer Support and the school Health
Council. She was a Prefect at Onehunga High School in 2012 and
displayed a lot of leadership potential in this role. "Briar is a
determined young woman with strong leadership abilities. She is an
organised person who is always keen for a challenge and last year
had the lead role in the school production. Briar wants to have a
career where she is helping people every day and will work hard to
achieve her career goal in Radiation Therapy," said her Scholarship
Partner of her upon awarding her a First Foundation Scholarship.
While very involved in the life of her school, Briar also takes
time to volunteer at the Women's Refuge in Mangere. Across all she
does, she consistently demonstrates the desire to support others in
hardship.
Briar completed her Bachelor of Radiation Therapy from The
University of Otago and started in a permanent role at Waikato
hospital in March 2017.
